Today I am reviewing two oatmeal crème pie desserts and mush.
The word mush is funny sounding and reminds me of many things. It’s the command to make sled dogs move. It can also mean overly sentimental, like a mushy Hallmark rom-com. What you may not know is that the word mush also means overnight oatmeal, which is milk or water added to oatmeal and left overnight in the fridge.
Mush is cold ready-to-eat oatmeal with alternative milk. It’s perfect for both breakfast and snacking.
The container is the size of a small yogurt. While it is thick and filling, I wish they had used oat milk instead of coconut milk because I couldn’t taste the blueberries and the coconut flavor was very overpowering. However, other flavors such as apple cinnamon, dark chocolate, maple cinnamon, and vanilla bean use almond milk instead.

I’m always happy to see big companies offer gluten and dairy-free food. One, it means they are taking food allergies seriously. Second, they are listening to consumer needs. Finally, they are experts in their field, so they offer great-tasting food. One such company is Ben and Jerry’s. They jumped on the non-dairy bandwagon, which is great news for us.
Their oatmeal dream pie is one of the best frozen treats I have tasted. It is oatmeal crème pie flavored with chunks of Partake gluten-free oatmeal cookies and marshmallow swirls. The result is 2 tasty desserts in one, cookies and ice cream.
It’s made with sunflower milk, which I had never heard of. It would probably be a great option for those who cannot consume nut or soy milk.

Katz Oatmeal Crème Pie is a sweet cream filling sandwiched between two moist and chewy oatmeal cookies. The oatmeal crème pie nostalgically reminded me of snacking on Little Debbie’s version as a kid. A word of advice is that it tastes better warmed in the microwave than eaten at room temperature.
I regard Katz as the gluten-free and dairy-free equivalent of Hostess and Little Debbie. Read my review of their great snacks here https://liveglutenanddairyfree.com/snack-cakes-and-donuts/

Amelioration is the process by which the meaning of a word becomes positive. For example, terrific used to mean causing terror, and now means wonderful. Mush has a negative connotation regarding food as being soft and clumpy. However, I believe that Mush overnight oats can change the meaning to positive.
