Hippeas

Hippeas is made of chickpea and rice flour and comes in four flavors.  The vegan white cheddar puffs are crunchy and taste like real cheese. Nacho vibes also tastes like cheese but surprisingly has a slightly sweet aftertaste. But I’m not complaining since it is balanced by the nacho taste and is a tasty salty and sweet snack. Hippeas also come in “hippie” non-cheese flavors including sunshine sriracha and bohemian barbeque, which are just as tasty without overwhelming flavors. The barbeque flavor is just tangy enough, and the sriracha has a mild kick. They are gluten free, kosher, vegan, non-GMO, nut free and soy free.

Vegan Rob’s Cheddar Puffs

Vegan Rob’s cheese puffs resemble Cheetos with their crescent shape. Although they taste cheesy, the texture is gritty compared to Hippeas and Earth Balance. Made with sorghum, they are vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and kosher, with no trans-fat. Vegan Rob’s also makes tasty Cauliflower puffs (https://liveglutenanddairyfree.com/cauliflower-the-it-food/2/).

Earth Balance White Cheddar Puffs

Earth Balance White Cheddar Puffs are delicious. The puffs are fluffy and crispy, and melt in your mouth (probably because of vanishing caloric density). Ironically, they taste more buttery than cheesy and are shaped more like popcorn. Made with cornmeal and navy bean powder, they are also gluten-free, kosher, and non-GMO. I am a big fan of Earth Balance and rate their butter as the best tasting vegan butter (https://liveglutenanddairyfree.com/i-cant-believe-its-vegan-butter/).

Conclusion

I like Earth Balance White Cheddar Puffs for its buttery taste, popcorn texture and melt in your mouth sensation. Hippeas has more flavor selections which are all good, and Vegan Rob’s tastes cheesy but is also gritty.
