Although they look alike and are made in the same pan, there are key differences between muffins and cupcakes. Muffins are more bread-like whereas cupcakes are mini cakes, hence the name. Cupcakes usually have frosting and tend to be moist, while muffins tend to be coarser and have no topping, or a simple crumb topping. Also, muffins are more likely to include less sugar and more fruit. However, it’s not just the ingredients that differentiates them – there are also differences in their mixing method. According to The Kitchn, cupcakes use the cake mixing method where the batter is beaten longer to achieve a fluffy texture. Muffins are mixed with the muffin method by mixing dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls, then combining them. Now that we’ve gone over the differences, here are tasty muffins for you to try.
