A recent study revealed that, on average, gluten-free products in the US contain less protein but more sugar and calories than foods containing gluten. If that isn’t bad enough, they’re also more expensive. Sachin Rustgi, a co-author of the study, states, “Currently, many gluten-free products lack dietary fiber, protein, and essential nutrients.”
However, in a counterargument, What the headlines didn’t tell you about that study on gluten-free foods, J.B. Maer states that the study focuses on packaged foods, which usually aren’t healthy to begin with. The writer recommends eating fewer processed foods and focusing more on homemade gluten-free foods. This useful advice is the reason I am listing 24 gluten and dairy-free cookbooks.

Benefits of Cooking at Home
First, I’d like to note the many benefits of cooking at home, including
- Cost savings
- Control over ingredients
- Control over portion sizes
- Healthier eating
- My favorite reason is that it creates opportunities to be creative. As famous chef Wolfgang Puck said, “Cooking is like painting or writing a song.”
If you enjoy cooking or don’t know where to start, here are some recommendations.
