Miyoko’s Cultured Vegan Butter

Miyoko’s vegan butter has a lot of positives: it is certified organic, non-GMO, vegan, cruelty free, cholesterol free, lactose free, gluten free and soy free. However, I am not a fan. First, I did not like the packaging. Because it comes in a square shape, it was not spreadable. The package says it melts, browns, bakes & spreads phenomenally but I’m guessing you have to set it at room temperature because I had trouble spreading it on bread. Afterwards, I clumsily wrapped it back in the wax paper and shoved it back in the box. Secondly, I did not care for the taste. I was expecting a buttery flavor, but did not realize that European butter has a tangy, sour taste because it is fermented with live cultures.

I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter, it’s Vegan!

I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter, it’s Vegan! is made from the people who brought us I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter. It comes in a plastic tub, making spreading easy. The taste is buttery and it is vegan, non-dairy, and gluten free. Also, it is made with soybean and palm kernel oils.

Country Crock Plant Butter, Olive Oil

Country Crock plant based butter is dairy and gluten free. It is 75% plant based and  made with olive, soybean and palm kernel oils. It is spreadable and has a buttery taste. Additionally, they have butters made with almond and avocado oils.

Earth Balance Organic Vegan Butter

Earth Balance Organic Vegan Butter  is creamy and spreadable and comes in a plastic tub. Earth Balance is made from a blend of oils- palm, soybean, canola and olive oil. It is non-GMO and gluten free. It also comes in sticks for baking.

Conclusion

Although I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter and Country Crock have buttery tastes, are easily spreadable and are fine vegan substitutes, Earth Balance has a more rich, buttery taste and is my pick for vegan butter.
